Three Baptisms
Salvation – Water – Spirit
Matthew 3:11
I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me (Jesus) is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
Acts 1:4-5
And being assembled together with them, He (Jesus) commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”
Acts 1:8
But You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has came upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
The Old Testament Priest
Exodus 28:33-35
And upon its hem you shall make pomegranates of blue, purple, and scarlet, all around its hem, and bells of gold between them all around: a golden bell and a pomegranate, a golden bell and a pomegranate, upon the hem of the robe all around. And it shall be upon Aaron when he ministers, and its sound will be heard when he goes into the holy place before the Lord and when he comes out, that he may not die.
Pomegranate – Fruit of The Holy Spirit
Bell – The Gifts of The Holy Spirit
Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
1 Corinthians 13:1
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.
The Gifts and Fruits of The Holy Spirit Operating Give Voice and Expression to The Church
The Truth About Growing Fruit
1. Fruit Is A Natural Expression of a Tree
2. The Growth of the Fruit of the Spirit is a Process
3. There Should Always Be Some Fruit of Growth
1.Love
Willing, Sacrificial Service
Not Emotional/Physical Attraction
1 Corinthians 13:4-10
Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.
2. Joy
Happiness Based on Divine Promises and Eternal Realities
Nehemiah 8:10
Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
Psalms 16:11
You will show me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
3. Peace
Inner Calm Based On One’s Relationship With Christ
Philippians 4:7
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
4. Patience
The Ability to Endure Irritating/Painful Situations
James 1:2-4
My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
Psalms 34:17-19
The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all.
5. Kindness
Tender Concern For Others, As The Lord Treats Us
Ephesians 4:32
And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.
6. Goodness
Moral and Spiritual Excellence Manifested In Kindness
Daniel 6:3
Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king gave thought to setting him over the whole realm.
7. Faithfulness
Loyalty and Trustworthiness
Matthew 25:23
His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
8. Gentleness
“Meekness”
Humble and Gentle Attitude
Matthew 23:12
And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.
9. Self-Control
The Ability To Restrain Passions and Appetites
Titus 2:11
For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ
Love- Joy- Peace
Our Relationship With God
Patience- Kindness- Goodness
Our Relationships With Others
Faithfulness- Gentleness (Humility)- Self-Control
Our Relationship With Ourselves
Ps 92:12-15
The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
Those who are planted in the house of the Lord Shall flourish in the courts of our God.
They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh (Green) and flourishing (Fat and Oily)
