Victory - Week 3

SPEAKER: Pastor Charlie Riley
April 12, 2025

Message Notes

Coming out, He went to the Mount of Olives, as He was accustomed, and His disciples also followed Him.hen He came to the place, He said to them, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.”
Luke 22:39-40

And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed, saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.”
Luke 22:41-42

Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him. And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
Luke 22:43-44

Medical Condition
Hematidrosis is a very rare condition in which a human sweats blood.

When He rose up from prayer, and had come to His disciples, He found them sleeping from sorrow. 46 Then He said to them, “Why do you sleep? Rise and pray, lest you enter into temptation.”
Luke 22:45-46

And while He was still speaking, behold, a multitude; and he who was called Judas (Praise), one of the twelve, went before them and drew near to Jesus to kiss Him. 48 But Jesus said to him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?”
Luke 22:47-48

When those around Him saw what was going to happen, they said to Him, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?” 50 And one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear.
Luke 22:49-50

But Jesus answered and said, “Permit even this.” And He touched his ear and healed him.
Luke 22:51

The Garden of Gethsemane

“The Place of The Olive Press”

Surely He has borne our griefs (Sicknesses) And carried our sorrows (Pains); Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded (Pierced Through) for our transgressions, He was bruised (Crushed) for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes (Bruises and Wounds) we are healed.
Isaiah 53:4-5

The Greatest Value of An Olive Is The Oil, It’s Most Productive and Valuable
When It Is Crushed

Jesus Was Adding Value To You In That Garden
We All Go Through Gethsemane

His Pressing Was For Your Blessing

1. In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve’s Sin Brought Separation and Death Into The World

In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus Agreed To Die A Sinner’s Death, To Bring Life And a Relationship With God Into The World

And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation. 12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned—For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.
Romans 5:10-12

2. In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve Ate What Was Pleasant To The Eyes

In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus Saw and Took The Cup of Suffering For All

3. In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve Never Prayed

In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus Prayed Desperately

4. In the Garden of Eden, Eve talked to the Serpent and Lost

In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus Talked To The Father and Won

5. In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve Were Made Hopeless By Their Own Choice

In the Garden of Gethsemane Jesus Made The Choice To Give Hope To All Who Believe In Him

41 Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid. 42 So there they laid Jesus, because of the Jews’ Preparation Day, for the tomb was nearby.
John 19:41-42
